Services

Services we provide

The Alabama Neurodevelopment Center provides comprehensive psychological
evaluations for children and others whose families have concerns regarding their
development, as well as adults who may have concerns regarding their own
development.

Evaluations for all stages of life

We serve patients and their families across the lifespan from early childhood through adulthood.

Evaluations focus on assessing differences or delays in development that may be
indicative of a neurodevelopmental disability such as autism spectrum disorder or
intellectual disability. Comprehensive evaluations may include cognitive, social, language, motor, daily living, or academic skills assessment, depending on concerns.

Comprehensive psychological evaluations typically include discussions with patients and their families to establish their main questions, concerns, and goals. Information from discussions and the results of psychological testing informs diagnoses and recommendations related to next steps in a person’s care.

Improving Access

Call or email the center to get more information regarding scheduling an initial
appointment to initiate a comprehensive evaluation.

Evaluations will typically consist of an initial appointment with a clinician to discuss the family or person’s concerns regarding their development. Then, the clinician will recommend at least one appointment to complete psychological testing (2–3-hour appointment in most cases). Finally, the clinician will meet with the individual, their family, or both to discuss the results of testing, any diagnoses, and recommendations for next steps in the person’s care. We will share the results of an evaluation with legal consent.
