The Alabama Neurodevelopment Center at The Arc of Central Alabama will serve as a diagnostic and support hub for people of all ages with suspected autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, or other developmental conditions.
Located at our Crestwood campus, the center will provide comprehensive evaluations and personalized recommendations in a welcoming, family-centered environment.
Transforming access to developmental care.
The Alabama Neurodevelopment Center combines clinical care, doctoral training, and applied research to deliver faster, smarter, and more sustainable solutions for families across Alabama.
By uniting these three elements, the Center not only reduces wait times but also builds a stronger, more specialized workforce and advances research that drives innovation in care. Our integrated model raises the standard of care, ensuring every individual receives a timely, accurate diagnosis and the ongoing support needed to thrive.

What makes us unique?

Research
Our integrated research program ensures every evaluation and treatment is guided by the latest evidence and data. By studying real-world outcomes within our clinic, we continuously refine practices—so individuals and families receive the most informed, effective care possible.

Training
Through our on-site PhD internship and training program, we grow the number of clinicians qualified to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This approach builds long-term statewide capacity in the most cost-effective way, strengthening Alabama’s entire system of care.

Access
The Alabama Neurodevelopment Center streamlines testing and diagnosis, dramatically reducing wait times that often stretch more than a year. Families gain timely answers, access to resources, and a clear path forward—when it matters most.
I searched, called, and worked for months to find the help I knew my child—and our family—needed. The earlier we can identify a child’s needs, the sooner we can empower them to thrive. Families shouldn’t have to wait months or years for answers—because every moment of waiting is a missed opportunity for growth.
